In a circular dated July 31, 2012 to banks and discount houses forwarding the exposure draft of the revised Code of Corporate Governance for Banks in Nigeria (the “Code”) for input, the Central Bank of Nigeria (the “CBN”) stated that it is currently reviewing the extant Code of Corporate Governance for Banks in Nigeria with the intention of strengthening governance policies, eliminating perceived ambiguities in and aligning the Code with current realities and global best practices.
