About Us
At Law Digest, our mission is to assist in the development of legal capacity in Africa. We aim to do this by publishing professional journals, and organising training events and seminars. The in-house Law Digest team is supported by an Advisory Board made up of eminent African and international jurists.
- We aim topromote study, research and analysis on legal matters of particular interest and relevance to African countries and to foster the development and dissemination of law in Africa. In addition, we will encourage and promote intellectual debate and exchanges on legal issues of particular interest to Africa and its peoples and to foment the establishment of networks among African lawyers as well as between the latter and lawyers of other continents and contribute actively to the promotion and building of the rule of law in Africa, in general.
With the creation of the Law Digest, we have thus embarked on a wider enterprise in the service of our continent and its peoples, for we believe that the advancement and promotion of law, and of the rule of law, are integral to the development of Africa.
Law Digest is the brainchild of Seyi Clement, who was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. He re-qualified in Britain as a Solicitor where he has been practicing corporate and commercial law since 2000 and maintains a specialist corporate consultancy, Seyi Clement & Co. in Lagos. Amongst his many interests, Seyi Clement is a visiting lecturer on M&A and Employment Law at the BPP University in England.
The journal was launched in London on the 10th January 2013 and has set a precedent for featuring international contributors from the major common law jurisdictions including, US, Canada and UK, who astutely analyse global and domestic jurisprudence from the African perspective. Over 5000 copies of the journal are distributed in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, UK, Canada and the US. No other publication in the law magazine sector offers the range of readers’ interface offered by Law Digest. In addition, the Law Digest has over 2000 on-line readers.
